Spencer Rattler Offers Crucial Advice to...

All eyes will be on rookie QB Shedeur Sanders when the Cleveland Browns open their 2025 training camp. His journey to the NFL has been nothing short of a rollercoaster – from being projected as the No. 1 overall pick to tumbling all the way to the fifth round (144th overall). Now, he’s in position to potentially snatch the Browns’ starting job.

The headlines haven’t been limited to football, though. Sanders has already racked up multiple traffic violations since joining the league. Law enforcement pulled him over twice in June alone for speeding violations. During one stop, he was reportedly clocked at over 100 mph. Making matters worse, Sanders didn’t show up for his court appearance related to the first incident.

The crushing pressure of NFL expectations combined with celebrity status has derailed many promising careers before. Sanders clearly needs guidance through these early challenges – and he’s getting some advice from an unexpected source who knows exactly what he’s going through.

Saints QB Spencer Rattler offers straight talk to Sanders

During Friday’s appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show”, New Orleans Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler didn’t hold back when discussing Sanders’ bumpy introduction to the pros.

“He’s a talented quarterback, as we all know,” Rattler explained. “He’s going to have his own path. Everybody has a different path. Everybody can’t go first round, second round. Everybody has their own path, so take it step by step. Take it day by day. I know he’ll be great. I know he has a level head and knows what to do. Obviously, runs in the family. I know he’s going to work hard and be a great player.”

Rattler’s been through the fire himself

When it comes to NFL reality checks, Rattler speaks from experience. He’s also a fifth-round selection (150th overall in 2024) – though he never carried the same spotlight or expectations that Sanders brought with him from college.

Rattler’s rookie campaign was anything but glamorous. He went winless in six starts for New Orleans, throwing more interceptions (five) than touchdowns (four) during his limited action.

Who better to guide Sanders through these early struggles?

The real test for Sanders still lies ahead – can he handle the crushing speed and complexity of NFL defenses? If not, there’s always the CFL option. But if he proves the doubters wrong and delivers on the field, those off-field issues will face even greater scrutiny – and his early track record isn’t promising.
