Following on from last month I am delighted to be able to share the second Final Quest side quest for your gaming pleasure.
Whether you want to use it as an adventure framework for DnD, Pathfinder or some such, or use the Final Quest rules, I hope that you will find it of use. I know Ryan and I had a lot of fun in the office spit-balling ideas for this before he got down to writing it.
This is completely free. Feel free to take it and adapt it, use it, share it with your gaming friends etc.
You can see the format below:

And you can download the Final Quest Side Quest 02 below:
We are extremely dedicated to this format as I think, based on our gaming with them in the office, they make for a great little hour or two game sessions with almost zero prep – a games masters dream, right!
Since we released first one last month we did have a test batch come back from the printers. The format was good, although we managed to print them the wrong way around, and there was a rule missing! Still, as proof of concept they worked. We did also try a thin, folding brochure alternative but this format is far superior when solo gaming as you have all the key information in front of you with easy access to the tables on the side flap.
All this work was part of our internal development of the Final Quest game system and we are super excited to announce that Final Quest 2 is going to launch shortly on Kickstarter. We have reworked the game cards considerably as well as introduced a new movement mechanic, altered the game to be played with two player characters and removed equipment cards (mostly) and replaced them with quests. In other words, we’ve been busy!
Here’s a comparison of the game cards:

The new icons, in green, are ‘number appearing’ and ‘to hit number’. (The green flag icon is related to reputation gained for killing the creature and is specific to Final Quest 2.) We’ve done the same thing with all the cards i.e redesigned them from the ground up, including how they interact with other aspects of the game.
We are also leaning into our celtic intentions for the game and the game itself is now set in Arvion which some of you will recognise as my version of fantasy Britain.
As well as the main game, we will be selling a portfolio of Kickstarter exclusive side-quests in the same format as the free one that is linked above. The Kickstarter ones will not be released outside of Kickstarter so are a true exclusive. We will be continuing to release free ones via the website and in future, the creatures stat blocks will be in the new format above.

I do hope my passion for this project is coming across. I’ve been dancing around using Arvion as a backdrop since I start up the Grinning Frog and yet, outside of a few mentions in The Oracle I haven’t committed fully. I have now, and Final Quest 2 will not be the end of Arvion – of the Final Quest range. Whilst each new Zilight game sees you in a new time period, Final Quest is being crafted internally to act as a cohesive and ongoing series of games and RPG content that can be enjoyed in a multitude of ways.
Of course, if no one buys Final Quest 2 and everyone tells me this is a terribly idea then I will slink off somewhere and cry but assuming that doesn’t happen, expect more celtic magic coming your way soon!
And do check out the campaign link above, the office is closed tomorrow and Friday (reasons) but despite that I’m hoping/trying to get the campaign ready for a Friday 11th July launch, it would be amazing to see you there.
Enjoy the Final Quest content and see you again soon.
Until next time, keep gaming.
